As I stood on Mt. Carmel, looking down toward the valley below, I listened to our tour guide and thought of the story of Elijah, Ahab, and the prophets. In my mind's eye, I could hear Elijah telling the Israelites they must choose between God and Baal.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the ‘shadow of death’ indicates there is a massive, bright and overwhelming light of hope behind any ‘darkness’ that haunts you. Behind any/all darkness in your life is that ‘ray of hope’, which is higher, greater, and certainly brighter than any ‘doom’.

Fear is a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined. Often it is the feeling or condition of being afraid. Today, we both celebrate and mourn the loss of our friend, Jim. A great father and husband as well as a pillar of our church for many years. Our Creator has certainly blessed America in many marvelous ways: Abundant natural beauty is found all across our land, including timbered forests, lush green valleys, richly fertile farmlands, the bountiful Great Plains, snow-capped Rocky Mountains, and warm California beaches.
