Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell everything that he had, give it to the poor and follow Him. Do I have to give away everything to follow Christ? Do I have to sell all that I have in order to please Him?

Ravi Zacharias tells the story about a boy that loved collecting marbles. He lived next door to a little girl who had a lot of candy. She said to him: “If you’ll give me all of your marbles, I’ll give you all of my candy.” He said he’d think about it. The next ...read more

  • Where Are The Blessings On Those Who Are Poor Or Weak?

Contributed by Gordon Mcculloch on Jan 18, 2014
     | 3,816 views

The ‘blessed ones’ are the so called experts to whom many people go to for advice; seeking fame, riches and beauty as outward signs of God blessing them; but secretly they want others to kowtow to their success. Jesus could sort them out.

Summary: The ‘blessed ones’ are the so called experts to whom many people go to for advice; seeking fame, riches and beauty as outward signs of God blessing them; but secretly they want others to kowtow to their success. Jesus could sort them out. Micah 6:1-8 1 Corinthians ...read more

  • "Growing In Grace Together”

Contributed by Austin Calder on Apr 21, 2020
     | 5,356 views

Grace is a terribly misunderstood word and defining it sufficiently is very difficult. Some of the most detailed theology textbooks do not offer any concise definition of the term. Someone came up with this acronym: GRACE is God’s---Riches--- At---Christ’s---Expense.

That’s not a bad way to characterize grace. One of the best-known definitions of grace is only three words: God’s unmerited favor. A. W. Tozer expanded on that idea by saying, “Grace is the good pleasure of God that allows him to bestow benefits on the undeserving.” The key word in what have ...read more

The sound heard today by a lot of the church says things like God wants you to be rich, God wants you to have 3 mansions, or God wants you to drive a Bentley, God never said he wanted you to drive a Bentley.

The Message of the Sound By Bishop Melvin L. Maughmer, Jr. OPENING: - Let me clarify for all my Cleveland Brown fans, emphatically yes, I am a Cleveland Browns Fan, but I do live in Michigan, so I have some partiality towards the Detroit Lions and that is where it stops O-H-I-O. Last Sunday the ...read more

  • When Will Jesus Return Again? Series

Contributed by Scott Maze on Jun 12, 2021
    based on 1 rating

Jesus’ Second Coming is rich news to those who are hurting. All the pain and suffering of our lives will not last forever. As one pastor recently said, “The promise of the second coming shows us the ‘good ole days are always ahead of us.”

Several weeks ago, I asked for your help in your choice of today’s sermon. Your top choice was “When Will Jesus Return to Earth?” But a little analysis of the results led us to understand that it was really only this early service that asked for this topic. So … in the next couple of services, the ...read more

  • John 3:16 Series

Contributed by Scott Maze on Apr 23, 2024
     | 3,343 views

When John wrote these words, Jews would have thought God would love only the righteous. But the Bible doesn’t say God loves good-looking people. The Bible doesn’t say God loves rich and successful people.

Think with me about some of the most famous sayings in history. Martin Luther King Jr said famously, “I have a dream…” John Fitzgerald Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” Perhaps there is no more famous sentence anywhere than John ...read more

The world often values the big, the many, the rich, and the famous. However, this sermon explores the idea that less can be more, and that there is strength and importance in the small and few when God is involved. It challenges the belief that bigger is always better, and encourages finding value in simplicity and smallness.

The world often promotes the idea that bigger is better and smaller is not good. The unbelievers believe that more is always better and less is not valuable. They believe that there is strength in numbers and that the few are unimportant. They prioritize the rich and famous over the poor and ...read more

  • Eyes That See

Contributed by Lewis Martin on Apr 7, 2025
     | 823 views

Jesus tells a parable in Luke 16 that pulls back the curtain—revealing what happens when we live with closed eyes and closed hearts. It’s the story of a rich man, a poor beggar named Lazarus, and the eternal consequences of spiritual blindness.

Sermon: "Eyes That See" (Luke 16:19-31) Scripture Reading (Luke 16:19-31 - NLT): 19 Jesus said, “There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury. 20 At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores. 21 As ...read more

Contributed by Ron Ferguson on Dec 19, 2025
     | 142 views

Christians can be weak and blind and wear dirty garments when out of touch with the Lord. We look at the Lord’s remedy for these lukewarm, sinful Laodiceans pitifully smug in their church. They thought they were rich but they were wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked.

    28. THE KINGDOM PARABLES – THE SEVENTH – THE DRAGNET – PART 4 OF 6 The seven Kingdom parables of Matthew 13 are a wonderful study of integration. In all these we have looked at the parable itself to understand it. Then we looked at the parallel church in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 that matches ...read more
