The world often values the big, the many, the rich, and the famous. However, this sermon explores the idea that less can be more, and that there is strength and importance in the small and few when God is involved. It challenges the belief that bigger is always better, and encourages finding value in simplicity and smallness.

Introduction

The world often promotes the idea that bigger is better and smaller is not good. The unbelievers believe that more is always better and less is not valuable. They believe that there is strength in numbers and that the few are unimportant. They prioritize the rich and famous over the poor and insignificant. However, spiritually speaking, this is not always the case. In fact, the size, number, wealth, or strength of people is not the main issue. The most important factor is having God with us in everything we think, say, and do. In this study, we will explore instances in the Bible that demonstrate how "Little is much when God is in it."

A little bread is much when God is in it (John 6:1-13)

During the Lord's ministry, a problem arose when a multitude of people found themselves in a desert place one late afternoon, all hungry and in need of food. The disciples were faced with the challenge of feeding 5,000 hungry men (excluding women and children). However, with only five loaves of bread and two fish, the Lord miraculously fed the entire crowd, with twelve baskets of leftovers.

A little army is much when God is in it (Judges 7:1-7)

In a difficult time for the Israelites, when they were being terrorized and impoverished by the Midianites, they cried out to God for deliverance. God chose Gideon, a humble farmer, to raise up an army to fight against the Midianites. Initially, Gideon had an army of 32,000 men, but God reduced it to only 300. This demonstrated that having a smaller number with God's presence was more powerful than a larger army without Him.

A little weapon is much when God is in it

In times of war, people often rely on large armies, advanced technology, and powerful weapons for victory. However, the Israelites had a secret weapon that surpassed all others – their faith in God. Throughout history, we see examples of God using seemingly insignificant objects as weapons of victory. Moses' rod, David's sling, Shamgar's ox goad, and Samson's jawbone of an ass all demonstrate that God can use anything in our hands to bring about victory.

A little money is much when God is in it (Mark 12:42-44)

In the story of the widow's offering, Jesus teaches us about the value of giving. While many people were giving large sums of money, a poor widow gave only two small coins. Jesus commended her because she gave sacrificially, giving all she had. This teaches us that God values our giving not by the size or quantity of the gift, but by the heart and sacrifice behind it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the truth remains that "Little is much when God is in it." It is important to be faithful and good stewards of what God has given us, regardless of its size or significance. God measures our giving not by the amount we give, but by the heart and intention behind it. Let us be faithful in the little things, knowing that God will bless and reward us according to His perfect will and timing. As we remain faithful, we can trust that God will use even the smallest of things to bring about great victories in our lives.
