It's astonishing how we can miss this simple connection. We can get so focused on belief in scripture, a worldview, a depiction of reality, which is all good stuff, that we can all together miss that the goal is to know the real God who behind all this information.

Once the fish had vomited Jonah out, God’s call came to the prophet to arise and go to Nineveh and preach to the people. God’s call to the church is to take the good news of the gospel to those outside. May we too arise and go to fulfill the great commission of Jesus.

One of my favorite characters of the Christmas story is Simeon. He heard the "voice of Jesus" by the Holy Spirit. When you hear the Spirit give you a direction, you are hearing the voice of Jesus. The scriptures can also be "a voice of Jesus" (Jesus Speaks Leonard Sweet)
