Jonah failed to understand the compassionate and merciful nature of God. We as a church must know the heart of God and be actively involved in sharing the good news of the gospel and inviting those outside to be part of God’s Kingdom.

Jonah as a prophet of God did not give God the rightful place. When we obey God, serve Him alone, and set aside all that displeases Him, we will truly honor God and give Him the rightful place in our lives.

Jonah sat outside the city of Nineveh in the blazing heat fuming against God, but God graciously appointed a plant to grow and give shade to Jonah. No matter what our situation is, let’s remember that God is mindful of us and He will never leave us nor forsake us.
For our meditation let us look at Jonah 4:6, “Now the LORD God appointed a plant and made it come up over Jonah that it might be a shade over his head, to save him from his discomfort. Self-righteous Jonah rejoiced over a plant that gave him shade, but had not compassion on the people of Nineveh who genuinely repented of their sins. There’s no room for self-righteousness, as all of us are sinners saved by God's grace alone.
We read in Jonah 4:6, “Then the LORD God made a plant grow up over Jonah to give him some shade, so that he would be more comfortable. Jonah was seated in the wrong place waiting for God to pour out His wrath on the city of Nineveh. There were many others in the Bible who were in the wrong place like Jonah. If we are in such a place, God reminds us to rise up and go, to fulfill His purposes for our lives.
We read in Jonah 4:5, “Jonah went out east of the city and sat down.
