The Atonement for our sins provided by Jesus on the cross is a once and for all fulfillment of the Old Testament atonement which was temporary. Christ's atonement is pivotal in understanding salvation by grace and faith alone in Jesus Christ.

To clarify that the preposition “for” in the phrase:” for the remission of sins" does not mean "because." The Greek word "eis" means “for, into, unto, or toward” in all reputable Greek-English New Testament Interlinear. Denying this truth rejects the scriptures.
