TODAY WE EXAMINE THE FOURTH OF THE STATEMENTS, CONCERNING HUNGER AND THIRST. THESE ARE VERY DESPERATE STATES IN A PERSON’S LIFE. THIS TAKES US IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION FROM THE OTHER THREE AS IT ASSUMES A CHANGE IN THE PERSONS SPIRITUAL LIFE.

THE BLESSED HUNGER WE ARE CONTINUING OUR THOUGHTS ON JESUS’ TEACHING IN THE BEATITUDES. MERCY IS SOMETHING THAT IS IN SHORT SUPPLY IN OUR WORLD TODAY, AND I WOULD DARE SAY IN THE CHURCH. MERCY AND FORGIVENESS IS SOMETHING THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE SHOWERED ON US, BUT DON’T ASK US TO DO THE SAME FOR SOMEONE ELSE. IT’S NOT IN OUR NATURE.
