When Jesus cries out, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me!" He admits he has been forsaken by the one Person we expected to be his supporter to the end. But God cast his vote with the rest and says, guilty.

Good Friday brings us to a subject where men of all ages stand in awe, for it brings us to the cross. Ever since that awesome event on Golgotha's hill men have looked at the cross and thought, "Wonder of wonders that Jesus loved me."

Jesus is identified with the lamb, for they die without a fight. They meekly go to their death without attacking or resisting. Jesus laid down His life voluntarily, and He did not, as the Lion of the tribe of Judah, snarl and rip and tear at His crucifiers.
