BLESSED ASSURANCE… BE AN AGENT OF ASSURANCE!

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

ASSURANCE: free from doubt, a positive declaration intended to give confidence, a sure promise, in a religious sitting it means salvation by the inner witness of the Holy Spirit that we are justified. No harm will come, with great faith.

FANNY JANE CROSBY was born in 1820 and died in 1915 at the age of 95. At the age of 6 weeks a doctor put a mustard plaster on Fanny’s eyes and she was blind the rest of her life. Fanny refused to weep and sigh because she was blind, she said I cannot and I will not. Fanny said her blindness was a great blessing the Creator gave her. Fanny wrote over 8,000 gospel songs. In 1873, at the age of 42, Fanny was visiting a lady named KNAPP. Mrs. Knapp had written some music. Knapp played the music on the piano and she asked Fanny what is this music saying? Fanny got on her knees and prayed a few minutes then Fanny got up and said: THE SONG’S MUSIC SAYS: BLESSED ASSURANCE JESUS IS MINE. So Mrs. Knapp grabbed a pen as Fanny spoke the words to the song BLESSED ASSURANCE.

BLESSED ASSURANCE, JESUS IS MINE, O WHAT A FORETASTE OF GLORY DIVINE.

HEIR OF SALVATION, PURCHASED OF GOD, BORN OF HIS SPIRIT, WASHED IN HIS BLOOD.

THIS IS MY STORY, THIS IS MY SONG. PRAISING MY SAVIOR ALL THE DAY LONG.

THIS IS MY STORY, THIS IS MY SONG, PRAISING MY SAVIOR ALL THE DAY LONG.

PERFECT SUBMISSION, ALL IS AT REST. I AND MY SAVIOR AM HAPPY AND BLESSED.

WATCHING AND WAITING, LOOKING ABOVE. FILLED WITH HIS GOODNESS, LOST IN HIS LOVE.

When our second son was little he would walk around the house singing: BLESSED INSURANCE.

DO WE UNDERSTAND GOD GIVES US SEVERAL ASSURANCES? ASSURANCES WILL BE OURS WHEN WE COME TO THE FOOT OF THE CROSS OF JESUS CHRIST? WE HAVE A GREAT ASSURANCE THAT GOD SO LOVES US…

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

WE HAVE ASSURANCE THAT JESUS CAME TO EARTH, LIVED AND DIED. THEN ON THE THIRD DAY JESUS AROSE. LATER JESUS ASCENDED TO BE AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER. JESUS ASCENDED TO HEAVEN…

Matthew 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

The right hand symbolizes blessings, mercy, grace, justice and judgment.

WE HAVE ASSURANCE THAT GOOD COMES OUT OF BAD.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

WE HAVE AN ASSURANCE THAT GOD FORGIVES.

Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Matthew 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

WE HAVE THE ASSURANCE THAT GOD WILL RESCUE HIS PEOPLE. GOD GIVES HIS PEOPLE DELIVERANCE AND VICTORY.

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

WE MUST TRUST IN THE ASSURANCE THAT GOD WILL GIVE GUIDANCE TO US AND GOD LIMITS THE ENEMY’S POWER.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

WE MUST TRUST THE ABSOLUTE ASSURANCE THAT GOD HEARS AND ANSWERS OUR PRAYERS.
