The Siege Of Jerusalem

We probably don't like to think about God's justice. The siege of Jerusalem by the Romans, in A.D. 70, forces us to. In this event we see God's justice but we also see that God protected his people in a time of wrath.

Great sinners think they can sin but God does not see it, or it does not matter if mixed with a bit of religion. God lists Judah’s sins. Sin hardens people. It grows callouses. God’s message just slips away with ease. We need to be serious with God and not indifferent about our relationship.

Carnival time is often a time of chaos. Jesus created chaos because of the corruption in the Jerusalem temple. The cleansing of the temple is the "judgement" of God against commercial robbery of the poor by the religious establishment. Jesus is the replacement.
