For many, Christmas is a secular holiday where people feel "the Christmas spirit" and thus are a little more caring of others. It's a time for giving gifts and having large family gatherings for a holiday meal. But for a Christian, it anything but. For a Christian it is about Love.

Receiving And Rejecting The Light

John tells us in the prologue of his Gospel that the Light of Jesus Christ shines in the darkness that represents the sins of humanity. Some turn to the Light and others reject it, missing out on the blessings of salvation and eternal life.

The pharisees and Scribes used this woman as a pond in their scheme. In this one move, they could condemn the woman, turn the crowd against her and turn them away from the influence of Jesus. One slip of the tongue would be the end of Jesus. Yet Jesus offered a new beginning to all!

The lesson today is one of that was avoided by the early Church and was even left out of some early manuscripts. This is Jesus second discourse in the temple.
