The Glory Of God’s Law

Psalm 19 is a song of praise to the glory of God’s law, even though David begins his song of praise in adoration toward God solely in terms of His glory in nature. Yet the most prominent feature of this psalm is praise to God for His law (His Word).

The Bible says a great deal about the tongue. David prayed for the Lord to set a watch and keep the door of his lips. The writer of Proverbs declared that the hypocrite with his mouth destroyed his neighbor. Jesus warned about judgment regarding use of the tongue (Matt. 12:36–37).

Joseph faced opposition but, as a result, saved his family. David faced opposition from his brother but went ahead and killed Goliath. Nehemiah faced opposition, never lost confidence, and completed the building in record time. We no less will succeed, our confidence in our Lord.

In the 23rd Psalm we see David reflecting upon his life from the Green Pastures of his youth to the valley of the shadow of death(which was not far off). He notes one common theme namely that the Lord was his shepherd, today can we say the same thing?

Uzziah was a descendant of King David. Judah made Uzziah King in place of his father when he was 16 years of age, and Uzziah was king for 52 years! God’s word also indicates that Uzziah did what was right in God’s eyes; he sought to please God!
