The Forgiveness Of Joseph

Though Joseph's brothers intended to harm him, God intended to work through their actions for good. Ultimately this truth allowed Joseph to forgive his brothers. Forgiveness may sometimes be a decision we have to make but we can do so trusting that God will work good through it.

Tree of Life Messianic Congregation Houston. Joseph had an opportunity to punish his brothers for their treachery but instead forgave them. The result was a cohesive people group leaving Egypt 400 years later to become the nation of Israel. Forgiveness brings healing.

The Joseph Principle

But that principle does not apply to the story of Joseph in Genesis. In fact, the example of how Joseph succeeded and was used by God is the opposite of the Peter Principle. It is enough different that it deserves its own name. It can be called the Joseph Principle.
