Forgiveness Is Not A Choice

Forgiveness has eternal consequences. Perhaps that is why Jesus included it in his model prayer saying we are forgiven only when we forgive. Satan does not have to get us with every sin in the bible. All he needs is to get us with one.

Joseph was separated from his family at the age of 17 not because of war, but because of the wicked jealousy of his own brothers. In their jealousy they sold Joseph into slavery and presented his ornamented coat to their father. God used this for his purposes.

Forgiveness Is A Choice

Joseph had to choose to forgive his brothers. He saw God's sovereignty in the betrayal, he saw the same nature was in him and he tested their hearts with his brother. He forgave and never brought up the subject again.
