In times of pandemic, CV-19, fear and confusion, we look to anyone with answers to our questions and solutions to our problems. What should the Righteous do in times of helplessness and consternation? David, the Psalmist, gives us a good answer to that question in Psalms 91:1-16.

52 soldiers from the small town of Seadrift, TX went off to fight WW II. During the war, 15-20 mothers prayed Psalm 91 as they knelt together asking God to bring their sons home. God heard the prayers of these mothers and all 52 sons came home.

The devil took this passage to entice Jesus to jump off the pinnacle. The devil used or misused this text as though it provides unconditional security in any and every circumstance. Jesus own experience shows that even faithful ones suffer, have emotional anguish and physical pain.
