  • The Scientific Brilliance Of Genesis 1: A Second Helping

Contributed by Donald Whitchard on Jan 22, 2022
    based on 1 rating

One of the first sermons I wrote and posted for this site dealt with the scientific brilliance found in the first chapter of Genesis. There are other scientific standards found in this opening chapter of the inerrant and all-sufficient Word of God, and they are worth exploring and affirming.

When I read the first chapter of Genesis, I do not see the development of an ancient myth or legend. I do not see the fruit of an overactive imagination of an anonymous sage trying to explain to his "backward" clan or tribe of how they came to be. I do not see any collection of ...read more

  • Don't Walk Like The Gentiles

Contributed by Kyle Campbell on Feb 9, 2022
     | 1,853 views

In Ephesians 4:17, Paul “testified” to those Christians that they should not walk as the other Gentiles walk. He strongly charged them to not conduct themselves like others now that they were Christians. Ephesians 4:17-32 deals with the practical aspects of living as a Christian.

Introduction. In Ephesians 4:17, Paul “testified” to those Christians that they should not walk as the other Gentiles walk. The word “testify” is defined “to summon as a witness” and then “to bear witness” or “declare.” He wanted to strongly impress on them the charge to not conduct themselves like ...read more

  • Sermon For Pentecost

Contributed by William Meakin on May 2, 2024
     | 786 views

Pentecost is fundamentally a celebration and acknowledgment of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles.

Kevin J. Vanhoozer, an American theologian once remarked: “It is well known that Pentecost reverses Babel. The people who built the tower of Babel sought to make a name, and a unity, for themselves. At Pentecost, God builds his temple, uniting people in Christ. Unity – interpretive agreement and ...read more

Contributed by William Meakin on Jan 3, 2025

A cosmic experience is regarded as a state of consciousness that can involve a special sense of connection to the universe.

Thomas Merton, an American monk and writer once remarked: “When we are alone on a starlit night, when by chance we see the migrating birds in autumn descending on a grove of junipers to rest and eat; when we see children in a moment when they are really children, when we know love in our own ...read more

The Aurora Borealis, commonly known as the Northern Lights, is defined by Wikipedia as a natural light display in the Earth’s sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions in the vicinity of the Arctic and Antarctic.

Sir Philip Nicholas Outram Pullman, an English writer once remarked: “The Aurora!" Her wonder was so strong that she had to clutch the rail to keep from falling. The sight filled the northern sky; the immensity of it was scarcely conceivable. As if from Heaven itself, great curtains of ...read more

I want God to expand our minds on what the New Earth will be like as in union with Christ the new heaven and earth become one.

Background to passage: Closing two chapters of Isaiah, an end for the book which reflects the biblical timeline itself. Contributed by I. Grant Spong on Jul 14, 2024
     | 469 views

Who is Jesus? Let's discuss the Messianic riddle in Mark 8.

Who do we say that Jesus is? Are we willing to take up our cross, and follow Him, or are we chasing things of the world and losing our souls? Are we ashamed of Jesus? Let’s discuss this in Mark 8. Did a great crowd have anything to eat after three days with Jesus? Was Jesus concerned about their ...read more

A sermon about Jesus' command to love.

The Mark of a Methodist John 13:31-35 I think it’s safe to say that this is the simplest, clearest and most difficult command of all.
