  • Follow Me 2 Of 2

Contributed by Dr. Odell Belger on Feb 25, 2022
     | 1,040 views

In a previous sermon I preached on the importance of following the right people.

When Jesus was here on earth He stated on one occasion, "...FOLLOW ME, and I will make you fishers of men." It is interesting that the Bible not only records that He told these men to follow Him, but also it records that they were smart enough to obey. Look at Matt. 4:20, it states, ...read more

  • Overcoming The Bitter Root

Contributed by D. Dewaine Phillips on Mar 3, 2022
    based on 1 rating

Bitterness arises from failing to forgive someone who has wronged you. It comes from clinging to bad memories or hurtful experiences from the past and not letting them go. Many times bitterness will give rise to vengeance.

Our sermon this morning is entitled, “Overcoming the Bitter Root.” Bitterness can be defined as harboring resentment and unforgiveness in our heart toward another person. Bitterness is also defined as, “extreme enmity,” “a grudge,” or “hatred.”(1) The meaning of the word bitter itself is, “sharp ...read more

  • See Jesus Defeat The Devil

Contributed by Michael Otterstatter on Mar 7, 2022
     | 1,995 views

Because Christ fought the battle against Satan as one of us, he won that battle for all of us. Jesus is our perfect substitute. Even as the devil rages against us, we can face him and his temptations unafraid, confident that our champion, Jesus, has already won the victory over him.

David versus Goliath. Thousands of years after their brief battle it is still used to describe conflicts. You have probably heard the comparison several times in recent days following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Clearly Russia is Goliath and Ukraine David. But don’t we also regularly hear the ...read more

  • Provoking Thoughts From 1 John (9 Of 16)

Contributed by Dr. Odell Belger on Mar 10, 2022
     | 2,232 views

Have you ever listened to someone on the radio and wondered what that person looked like.

If you have, you were probably, like most people, surprised when you actually saw that person. Why? Because that person probably did not look at all like you had thought from the way he/she sounded. I want to ask you another question. Have you ever read your Bible and tried to imagine what the ...read more

  • Acts Of The Apostles (6 Of 39)

Contributed by Dr. Odell Belger on Mar 14, 2022
     | 1,210 views

At the beginning of the third chapter of Acts, the story of the glorious healing of the man who had been lame from birth is recorded.

This man was a picture of the sinner, who is born spiritually lame. God did an undeniable work in his life, but the ungodly, though religious, would not accept it. It is still the same today. God does great things, and still ungodly men will not accept what He does, and can do, for mankind. ...read more

  • Right God, Wrong Way Series

Contributed by Scott Maze on Jun 19, 2021
     | 3,237 views

Worship has the power to change you like no other activity you are involved in. Worship has the power to bless you.

Last week we focused on the first commandment: “You Shall Have No Other gods Before Me.” Last week, we focused on the “what” of worship: You Shall Worship Only God Himself. This week, we focus on the “how” of worship: You Shall Worship God the Right Way. The first commandment implicitly excludes ...read more

  • You Shall Not Murder Series

Contributed by Scott Maze on Jun 21, 2021
     | 2,802 views

The Bible’s opening plotlines show the firstborn man, Cain, killing his brother Abel. Think of it: the firstborn person in the human race was a murderer.

Contrary to many people’s thoughts that civilization is more civilized, evidence suggests that murder is on the increase. In 1963, in Scotland, two people were convicted of murder. In 2000, there were 128 reported homicides in Scotland. In 1960, the District of Columbia reported 81 murders. In 1991 ...read more

“Surrender to Babylon! Save yourselves!” Cried out the young prophet Jeremiah in the streets of Jerusalem, the holy city of God. • You Shall Not Covet Series

Contributed by Scott Maze on Jun 21, 2021
     | 2,779 views

In the tenth commandment, God’s searchlight moves from actions to attitudes. The commandment is not against an outward act but it is aimed at a person’s intentions.

Today I want to talk to you about a problem both the rich and the poor have – the problem of coveting. Remember we have divided the Ten Commandments into two categories: The first four are commandments directly related to God Himself – You Shall No Other gods Before Me… You Shall Not Make Any ...read more

Scripture As a result of poor planning, Dennis, from Katy, Texas, needed some same-day dry cleaning before he left on a trip. He remembered a store on the other side of town with a huge sign: “One-Hour Dry Cleaners.” So he drove out of his way to drop off a suit. After filling out the tag, he told ...read more

Contributed by Derrick Tuper on Jan 4, 2016
     | 6,675 views

When we look at the account of the wise men we will see some reasons why they were wise. The characteristics that made the wise men so wise are the same ones that will make us wise too.

WHAT MADE THE WISE MEN SO WISE? Matt. 2:1-14 INTRODUCTION: Today I’ll be talking about the wise men’s part in the Christmas story. You might be wondering why I am doing a Christmas sermon after Christmas. Well, I’m focusing on the wise men specifically after Christmas because ...read more
