The Lord gives wisdom and he is the author of wisdom. Wisdom was with God even before creation of the world. Wisdom is not easy to find. It remains a divine mystery in spite of its presence in all parts of the universe.

It is important to remember that all of these activities in this passage is a result of taking the gospel to the lost. (v.5) It is possible that Paul was discouraged or weary from the work and the Lord strengthened him as Paul spoke of in Ephesians 6:10
