The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are irrevocable. However, if people misuse it, God will not take away the gifts, but he can remove the sharpness, causing the impact to fade over time.

God gives His Gifts of the Holy Spirit to his people, but if he wants to take the gift away from them, he removes the sharpness of the gift rather than the gift itself. It’s fitting for us to consider the Apostle Paul’s final words to his co-worker Timothy on this day (June 25), for the Lutherans of 1530 who presented the Augsburg Confession took seriously Paul’s encouragement and so should we: “Remain steadfast in God’s Word and work.”
