About David
  • Education: BA, Michigan State University M. Div., Grand Rapids Seminary DMin Student, Biola Seminary
  • Experience: I hold loosely to a calvinistic, charismatic (lite), and New Covenant/Progressive Covenantalism.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Be kind!
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: I love preaching and it has its place but I am convinced that intentional and relational disciple making is the most effective means of changing lives.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: My ameba illustration!
  • Family: wife and four children and presently three grandchildren.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My mom was one of my biggest fans.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Great fan and greatest critic!
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Simplify to the one big idea.
  • Books that have had an impact: Bible, Duh. Desiring God by John Piper was game changer for me in many ways. Every revision! Unity of the Bible by Daniel Fuller helped me to see more continuity and unity between the testaments. The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert Coleman gave me the DNA for making disciples.
  • Hobbies: fly fishing, racquetball, running, reading, gardening, and grandchildren.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Repent, believe, and follow Jesus as a way of life.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Talking about the amebas of all amebas but said enemas of all enemas!
  • What I want on my tombstone: He lived life with one on his Savior and his other eye on his wife!
