Why is serving very important and what should be our motivation? The answers lie in that very powerful scene in which Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. Jesus mandated us to live by (symbolically) washing one another’s feet, (literally) serving one another.

Perhaps you heard this phrase growing up (and have repeated it to your own kids): 'do as I say, not as I do'. I can swear but if I hear you do it you're in trouble. Contrast that with what we see in the bible and we realize the right thing to be able to say is, 'do as I do'.
