The reason for such details about these cities of refuge was these were a fore-shadow of the coming of the Lord Jesus who will be the refuge for all of mankind. Nothing in the bible was recorded without a purpose, but every word that is written has a reason.

We are studying the meaning of the name of the fourth city which was called ‘Bezer’ which means, ‘inaccessible place or stronghold or fortress.’ It is a place where no evil could come near. Bezer reminds us that God is a refuge to all those who trust in Him.
