VIII. MAIN BODY:

This is SM (Secret Message) because of the signature of Aleph-Tav (Alpha-Omega) after the word "give".

A. The LORD JESUS gave 6 cities

"You shall give three cities on this [east] side of the Jordan and three cities in the land of Canaan,"

Jordan signifies

a. Jordan valley - a place of convenience and sin

Genesis 13:10-11

And Lot looked and saw that everywhere the Jordan Valley was well watered. Before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, [it was all] like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

Then Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley and [he] traveled east. So they separated.

b. transition in a believer's life

Genesis 32:10

I am not worthy of the least of all the mercy and loving-kindness and all the faithfulness which You have shown to Your servant, for with [only] my staff I passed over this Jordan [long ago], and now I have become two companies.

Example: Joshua transitions from an assistant of Moses to the leader of the Israelites

Joshua 3:1

JOSHUA ROSE early in the morning and they removed from Shittim and came to the Jordan, he and all the Israelites, and lodged there before passing over.

c. transition of worship

Deuteronomy 27:2-4

And on the day when you pass over the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall set up great stones and cover them with plaster.

And you shall write on them all the words of this law when you have passed over, that you may go into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

And when you have gone over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, as I command you this day, on Mount Ebal, and coat them with plaster.

d. something to be possessed

Deuteronomy 32:47

For it is not an empty and worthless trifle for you; it is your [very] life. By it you shall live long in the land which you are going over the Jordan to possess.

Deuteronomy 4:26

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day that you shall soon utterly perish from the land which you are going over the Jordan to possess. You will not live long upon it but will be utterly destroyed.

e. inheritance are distributed

Joshua 13:32

These are the inheritances which Moses distributed in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.

Joshua 18:7

But the Levites have no portion among you, for the priesthood of the Lord is their inheritance. Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance east of the Jordan, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave them.
