Sarah thought that she was now to old to have a son so she told Abraham to have a son by her Egyptian hand maid Hagar which was a bad mistake, eventually God fulfilled His promise to Abraham and he did have a son by Sarah, his name was Isaac.

By this time Abraham had strong faith, even though he had never heard of any one being raised from the dead he believed God could and would do that very thing, Abraham fully intended to slay Isaac, but God provided a substitute, Jesus was our Substitute.

These all died in faith - it seems that this is referring to Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob and their immediate descendants. ~~ Abel and Noah also died in faith, but the “promises” were not particularly entrusted to them.
