About William D.
  • Education: I regretfully have to say I did not finish High School.
  • Experience: The day our son was killed in the car wreck changed my life of sin when I was 40 years old, I started going to church the very next Sunday and was baptised the same night, from the very get go the Lord has always used and allowed me to work in His Vineyard. I joined the USMC when I was 17 years old,[3-16-60= 3-16-64]was honable discharged. My experience is the School of hard knocks. Praise God.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Feel free to used them as you see fit, you don’t have to mention my name, to God be the glory.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: John 6:37 All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me: and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: "the sin debt has been paid and can not be paid again" The old cow boy on his horse away out on the dried up prairie, sees that lighting has set the dried up grass and tumble weed on fire and the high wind is blowing it fast in his direction, he can not escape the raging fire, so he gets off his old horse and lites a fire where he’s at and as it burned out a place, he and his old horse steps into the safety of the burned already place, as it could not be burned again.
  • Family: My wife Margaret and I have been married for 51 years, we have one son who is an ordained Baptist Minister, did have 2, one was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 16. We have 3 Grandchildren.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Both parents have now passed away, Dad was 79 years old, Mother was 93, both listened when they were able, always had encourageing words about my sermons.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Margaret, is my honest and best Critic, I always ask her what she thinks about the message, as I prepare my messages and record them here at our home, she has pointed out a better choice of words, and as all the men folks know, the wife is always right.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Always preach the True Word of God and let the chips fall where they may, be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. Never compromise the Truth of Gods Word.
  • Books that have had an impact: Oliver B Greens commentaries. Warren W. Wiersbes Commentaries, Lehman Strasuss, M.R.DeHaan as well as many other solid Preachers.
  • Hobbies: I love to Deer hunt.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: One time many years ago, when I first went on the radio, it was a live Broadcast and I was speaking on the Birth of Christ, "CHRISTMAS" and it was a 30 minute broad cast, I suddenly realized that I had went through my out line and still had some time to go,I was young in Christ and very nervous, I just opened my Bible and it opened on John 1:"In the beginning was the Word". The Lord surely had to be in it. Its really not funny, but as I look back on it now it is sorta humorous.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Name and date of birth and death.
