Listen to the description of a spirit-filled life by the ’Sunday Times’ journalist Matthew Parris – a man, who is by his own confession, not a Christian.
“The New Testament offers a picture of God, who does not sound at all vague. He has sent His Son to earth. He has distinct plans for each of us

One of our good friends had the unique experience of growing up as the son of a county sheriff. His father, who was the sheriff of Marlin County for many years, passed away last year. It was at this time that he told us of an incident which had happened many years before:
A gentleman who had been

The great preacher Charles Spurgeon interprets part of Micah’s prophecy to refer to pre-New-Testament sightings of Jesus. He gives the examples of Abraham, Jacob, Joshua, and the three heroes of Babylonian Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
Observe for a moment here, that each of these four great

My home church always put on a Christmas play with the children of the church. And one evening, I was being especially disruptive downstairs as some of the younger children were getting ready for their parts in the play, and my pastor came downstairs to try and bring us under some sort of control.

This question illuminates one of those painful intersections between theology and church history: the canonization of Scripture.
Throughout church history, many books have been scrutinized by theologians, and before those theologians, other theologians, and before such, were the members of the

THE ONE TRUE GOD
"Back in my Bible college days I struck up a friendship with a man from the Far East. Before his conversion to Christianity, the worship of man-made wooden images and human-like deities was a way of life. As a little boy, the question came to his mind one day, 'Why do I worship

Some of you will know the name of J.B. Phillips, an Anglican bishop who wrote a number of books. One of his most popular books was a paraphrase of the New Testament. One of his other books was entitled Your God Is Too Small. In that book, Phillips exposed the views of God that we all hold to

PROPHECIES, RELIGIONS AND CHRISTMAS
The prophecies of the Old Testament were part of what "held up" the tree of Jesus’ and supported His claims to be Messiah.
Now, that’s not true of other men who’ve founded other world religions. For example:
About 500 years before Christ was born, a man was

PREDESTINATION
Rather than predetermining a person’s FATE, predestination predetermines a believer’s FOCUS—that is, God’s eternal purposes, goals and privileges for him. Every instance of the word “predestinate” in the New Testament refers to some purpose, goal or privilege that God has
