Not everything is essential when it comes to getting along with people. I heard two deacons engaged in a heated discussion, going at it over the sound system like two grumpy old men do. Roy (not his real name) was a retired cameraman from NBC Nightly news, so when it came to electronic equipment,

An old table tells that when Zaccheus grew old he lived in Jericho as a humble and devout believer. Every morning at sunrise, so the story goes, he went for a walk carrying a pitcher of water. Upon his return, he always seemed happy and radiant. His wife, with usual curiosity, followed him one

“On an old ‘Amos and Andy’ television program, Andy was angry. There was a big man who would continually slap him across the chest every time they met. Andy finally had enough of it. He told Amos, ‘I’m going to get revenge. I put a stick of dynamite in my vest pocket. The next time he slaps me

Prayer in Health
When you come to my office with a problem, often I'll offer to pray with you for God's healing and discernment. If you have a sprained hand and haven't grown in your spiritual life, you might think, "What a waste of time."
A few years ago there was even an experiment in which

WHY STICK WITH MILK?
Why would someone continue with a staple diet of milk only? Simple. Milk is easily and quickly swallowed. Meat, on the other hand, is much more substantial. It needs to be chewed, savored and broken down before it can be swallowed. Usually, we have to wait for it to cook.
