  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: 1.) I do my best to give credit where credit is due. Nevertheless, there are times I may repeat an illustration I remember hearing/reading but don’t know who to credit it to. If you see any such exs. and know the original, please let me know and I’ll edit the credit in. 2.) I’m a strong believer that anything preached from the Word of God through the Spirit of God is entirely His property and never my own. Please feel free to use, copy, adapt in any way that legitimately serves and pleas
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: A sermon a friend gave me soon after becoming a Christian in College. I believe it was by a Pastor Pope of First or Second Baptist in Dallas. It was entitled: "When God Comes Like A Whirlwind" and based on Proverbs 2:20-33. More generally, sermons by Chuck Swindoll and Tony Evans have most impacted me.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The boy searching for how to find God who eventually goes to see the hermit on the mountain. There the old man does not say a word until after he drowns the young man to the brink of death, lifts his head out of the water and then proclaims, "When you seek God as you now seek for breath, then you will find Him."
  • Family: I have a beautiful and godly wife, Rachel, for whom he had to go to Trinidad to find. We have been married since 1997. Rachel is a godly and dedicated wife and mother. We have two wonderful children, Isaiah and Tehillah.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Preach the Word and only the Word.
  • Books that have had an impact: Desiring God, John Piper Systematic Theology, Lewis Sperry Chafer Inside Out, Larry Crabb Transforming Leadership, Leighton Ford Historical Drift, Arnold L Cook Breakout Churches, Thomas Rainer Church of Irresistible Influence, Robert Lewis/Bob Wilkins Natural Church Development, Christian A. Schwartz Seeing Beyond Church Walls, Steve Sjogren Doing Church As A Team, Wayne Cordeiro Winning With People, John Maxwell Wild At Heart, John Eldridge etc...
  • Hobbies: My hobbies and special interests include family time, reading (anything from classic to modern, literary to pulp fiction, fiction and non-fiction, philosophical and theological), drama, outdoor activities, athletics, music, and exploring museums.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Always, your "utmost for His highest"
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Any Given Sunday
  • What I want on my tombstone: A Good and Faithful Servant of the LORD

  • Why Stick With Milk?

    Contributed on Feb 10, 2009

WHY STICK WITH MILK? Why would someone continue with a staple diet of milk only? Simple. Milk is easily and quickly swallowed. Meat, on the other hand, is much more substantial. It needs to be chewed, savored and broken down before it can be swallowed. Usually, we have to wait for it to cook. ...read more

To use an analogy, salvation only opens the door to God's University of True Wisdom.
