Jesus Comforted His Disciples as he does us today
John 14:1-4
14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 in My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
This Psalm assures us that God is there for us to guide and lead us through times of trouble and hardship.
He is a friend that stays close to us…providing for us…and loving us.
He promises that He is there for us, and all we need to do is come to Him for refuge and strength.
John 14:1-4King James Version (KJV)
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Let us pray-Our most loving and gracious heavenly Father,
Our God our refuge and strength,
Meet us in our sorrow and lift our eyes to the peace and light of your constant care. Help us so to hear your word of grace That our fear will be dispelled by your love, our loneliness eased by your presence and our hope renewed by your promises God our Father, we thank you for (Name’s) life, the years we shared with him, the love we received from him. Now give us strength and courage to leave him in your care, knowing your promise of eternal life Through Jesus Christ our Lord. In Jesus’s name we pray Amen
