[139]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – IF YOUR LIFE BELONGS TO JESUS
In June 2020 I found a poem of mine that I began some time in the past and had forgotten about. It was unfinished for 9 years. I then checked the date and it said 29 May 2011. It was in June 2020 that I wanted to finish it. The great Composer Franz Schubert died before he finished his 8th Symphony at age 31, (Now known as The Unfinished Symphony), even though he had completed the 9th Symphony. He was a tragic loss to the world of classical music.
The poem is message to us Christians, for we all need messages from God. I often get these prompts from God for myself! I need these reminders. We all do.
Jesus spoke a comforting word to His distressed disciples – {{John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. IN THE WORLD YOU HAVE TRIBULATION, BUT TAKE COURAGE. I have overcome the world.”}}
Yes, we live in the world but so did Jesus and this was said about Him – {{John 1:10 “He was in the world and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.”}}. It must not be any surprise that the world does not know us (recognize, interact, respect), for if those in the world treated Jesus so badly, then we too will not be immune.
Paul spoke plainly to the Christians at Philippi in these words – {{Philippians 2:14-16 “Do all things without grumbling or disputing THAT YOU MAY PROVE YOURSELVES TO BE BLAMELESS AND INNOCENT, children of God above reproach IN THE MIDST OF A CROOKED AND PERVERSE GENERATION, among whom you appear as lights in the world, HOLDING FAST THE WORD OF LIFE, so that in the day of Christ I may have cause to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.”}}
Let us be pleasing to the Lord, for I know that pleases Him but too often we fail the test and dishonour our own Saviour and Friend.
I hope this poem means a lot to you.

IF YOUR LIFE BELONGS TO JESUS
If your life belongs to Jesus you must walk the pilgrim way;
You must answer to God’s calling and His will you must obey.
Like the saints who went before you, you must firmly hold your ground.
In surrender you must follow, then in God your strength is found.
=============================================
In these days of adverse conflict, when the minds of men are dark,
You are called to battle bravely when this contrast is so stark.
It is life or death before you, and the choice that you have made
Will be held by God securely with His hand upon you laid.
=============================================
We must know the path is stony and the obstacles are strewn
Right across our lives for mischief and designed to bring us ruin.
Then take heart you weary pilgrims for in God your comfort lies.
He will bless you beyond measure from His bountiful supplies.
=============================================
Those who went before you battled as they stood against their foes,
And they clasped the flag of triumph that the Lord their God bestows.
All their hopes were centred God-ward, and their faith glowed with delight.
All their hearts were yearning strongly for on Jesus was their sight.
=============================================
Do not fear the trials that come or persecution’s spiteful hands.
Our great High Priest is watching; He with compassion understands.
Closely to His breast He comforts us, and gives the inner balm.
One day it will be over and in His presence, have His calm.
