The Book Of 1 Samuel | The First Kings Of Israel
Shared on: Jan 15, 2018
The book of 1 Samuel offers us tremendous insight into both the heart of God and the heart of man. Throughout this account, we learn about the wayward motivations that may easily keep us from being fully devoted to God. We discover that having the wrong focus in success is just as likely to lead us into spiritual decay as blatant rebellion. Even here, in the midst of Israel's sinful desire to be like the world around them instead of living as the peculiar people God called them to be, the seeds of God's loving-kindness and mercy are still scattered. For though the kingdom may waiver and falter under the fickle leadership of men, from the "stump of Jesse a shoot shall come forth" (Isa. 11:1), the "Son of David" shall come, and it shall be that everyone who looks upon him with faith will have eternal life.
