This Census not only affected David but it caused great harm to the people as well. Yet we shall see that when one truly repents he once again is restored to the relationship with God. In the end David has bought the site for the temple & has made peace

David put his covenant friendship with Jonathan to the test. He does so by putting his life in Jonathan's hand. It is the occasion for a confirmation of the covenant between them & also of a very sad parting.

The way David responded to God's correction and the new Word from the Lord is a good example to follow for any Christian. For David could then be over whelmed by a sense of God's grace & goodness.
