What does this mean? Are supposed to be angry? Of course the phrasing is in Old English from the 1600's and newer translations put it this way, "In your anger do not sin." Is such a feat even possible? What does God's Holy Word say?

Be Ye Angry and Sin Not Please stand with me as we go over our current memory Scripture: Psalm 1:1-2 “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. based on 5 ratings
     | 6,664 views

    1. "Keep the Committed Deposit" of the gospel; 2. In a verse which has become so familiar in translation that we almost forget to check the Greek language which lies behind it, we discover that only "He is able to Keep my Committed Deposit."

THE GOOD DEPOSIT. 2 Timothy 1:6-14. At the end of his previous letter, Paul encouraged Timothy to ‘KEEP’ - or guard - the ‘COMMITTED DEPOSIT’ (1 Timothy 6:20).      | 2,156 views

In this discourse, I've reworked several sermons from other preachers with a slightly different emphasis based upon the Contemporary English Version's translation of Matthew 16:23, namely, "You're in the way because you think like everybody else..."

(If you have found this sermon useful, please visit us at www.HeritageRestorationProject.org or www.ChristianWisdom.info) Comparing a variety of Biblical versions can be very helpful, and given the fact that the original New Testament texts were written in an old form of Greek, drawing out the ...read more

The words “effectual” and “fervent” are the translation of one Greek word energeo meaning to be operative, be at work, put forth power, to effect, show one's self operative. It has the prefix en which means “In” “inside” or “within” so the emphasis is what is going on within our own soul.

  • I Belong To The Lord, Body And Soul!

Contributed by Warner Pidgeon on Dec 19, 2008
    based on 4 ratings

JB Phillips translates Luke 1:38 like this, ’I belong to the Lord, body and soul. Let it happen as you say.’ Mary’s response of simple, humble faith challenges us to respond positively to the Lord’s call. How will we respond when he next calls us?

When God first called you what was your response? When God next calls you to something new, something different, what will be your response? The key to this Bible reading is Mary’s response of obedience. “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary said. “May it be to me as you have said” (1:38). JB Phillips ...read more
