What's God really like? God is not political, he’s not Republican or Democrat, He is not stoic or uncaring, He’s not boring or lame, He’s not checked out or disengaged, and He’s not homophobic.

ILLUST> I was reading an article in Relevant Magazine a few years back that suggested that political conversation in Christian circles seems to be the Las Vegas of Christianity, in other words the environment where anything goes, hate is winked at, fear is welcomed, and conflict is applauded. ...read more

Contributed by James Jackson on Mar 15, 2020
     | 1,536 views

Jesus came to show us a NEW way for sin to be forgiven; a NEW definition of belonging; and a NEW relationship to the rules. And that is some new wine that can't be poured into old wineskins.

Good morning! Please open your Bibles to Mark 2. I know I am about to date myself, but I wonder how many of you remember Paul Harvey? My mother loved listening to Paul Harvey. He would come on at noon, which was about the time we were driving back from the bowling alley (which is a whole other ...read more

How to consider what to do with the greatest gft of all.

What Do You Do With a Gift? I would like us to repeat our key verse for today found in Romans 6:23: The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. I suppose all of us at one time or another have received a gift. We get gifts for our birthday, gifts for ...read more

Contributed by David Owens on Apr 6, 2020
     | 12,072 views

This is the first sermon in a series on hope, which is our anchor in times of trouble. God's promises are the anchor that helps us in the storms of life. God is a promise making and promise keeping God.

    A. The story is told of a time when a storm was raging on the open sea, and a sea captain realized his ship was sinking fast. 1. He called out to his crew, “Does anyone here know how to pray?” 2. One crewman stepped forward, saying, “Aye, Captain, I know how to pray.” 3. “Good,” said the captain, ...read more

The enemy of the soul has hood-winked the Body of Christ into believing a lie about who we are and what we’re capable of accomplishing for the kingdom of God.

Hood-winked Let’s open tonight with some questions. And there is a right answer and all of you know it. ? Who comes to mind when I say heals the sick? (Response: Jesus) ? Who comes to mind when I say raises the dead? (Response: Jesus) ? Who comes to mind when I say causes blind eyes to see? ...read more

In Acts 1:8 the Apostles were tempted to stay with what was comfortable and easy, but Jesus challenged them to change the world

t’s a small word, only 3 letters, however when I looked up its definition in Collins English Dictionary, I found not one, but eight different ways the word could be used. It can be a conjunction, a preposition, an adverb, a pronoun and a noun. The word of course is “But” and if you have been at ...read more

  • Are We Surrendered?

Contributed by Caleb Sowers on May 9, 2019
    based on 3 ratings

From 1908 to 2018, the Church of the Nazarene grew from 10,000 members to 2.5 million. They surrendered. They heard the call, the Great Commission given to every Christian, and they submitted. I think this is the problem that Christianity in general is facing today. Christians stopped surrendering.

The Church Manual states that “The Church of the Nazarene recognizes all believers are called to minister to all people.” I love that statement. I love it because it really sums up how the Church of the Nazarene from its earliest days really felt the burden of the Great Commission and from the ...read more

  • Cross Purposes 3: Redemption Series

Contributed by Vic Folkert on Dec 13, 2019
    based on 1 rating

Redemption is like purchasing a slave to free them. Jesus 1) made a personal investment, and 2) paid a price. We are free as we 1) recognize our worth, and 2) chooses to be slaves of God.

CROSS PURPOSES 5: REDEMPTION For the past 4 weeks, we have been asking, “Why did Jesus Christ, the Son of God, die on the cross for us?” We keep asking the same question, because the cross impacts our lives in so many ways, that we can’t exhaust them all: The cross shows the love of God. ...read more

This was my message for the first Sunday of 2020 sharing what God had laid on my heart for the New Year.

It’s a brand-new year, a brand-new decade and a chance for everyone to have 2020 vision. As we were preparing to step over the line into 2020, I realized that I was now entering my fourth decade at Cornerstone. The nineties, Y2K to 2010, 2010 to 2019 and now the Roaring Twenties. For many people, their priority in life is material prosperity. When you hear the phrase, 'well off' or, 'well to do', it refers to someone who is wealthy. As we'll see today, those who have stored up treasures in heaven will truly be, 'well off' and 'well-to-do'.

THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT (part 16) Matt. 6:19-24 Suze Orman in her book, “9 Steps to Financial Freedom” writes, "When I was 13, my dad owned his own business—a tiny shack where he sold chicken, ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, and fries.
