This is the 2nd time in our study of Mark that we find the disciples in the middle of a storm. In reality, there were two storms brewing that night – one on the sea & the other in the disciple’s hearts! This caused the disciples to be “terrified” (vs. 50)

In verse 39 we see the deity of Christ. Only God can rebuke the wind and calm the sea. The only reason Bible writers could put such contrasting pictures of Jesus side by side is because they were true. He was truly man, and truly God.
