Let us wholeheartedly follow Jesus and not let the things of this world get in the way. We are too easily distracted by the urgent things of this life, our material desires and our physical comforts, that we fail in our commitment to our Lord.

Luke 9:57-62 Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, “Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Then He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he ...read more

Mt Zion was a comforting security for the pilgrims. It means our stability too. Wickedness rules our nations but we must uphold the scepter of righteousness and do good to one another for God does good for us. Contrast of good and evil.

There are times I seem to be all alone... Then I realize I am never alone... God is with me. Emmanuel... The reason I am standing is I have someone standing with me. I find great peace/comfort in this.

WHEN THE REASON I AM STANDING STANDS BY ME. WHO WILL GO? LEAD ME, I WILL FOLLOW By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com (YouTube: Wade Hughes) I read a story about a very popular song from years ago. Seems the man was leaving the hospital where his wife had just passed away. ...read more

  • The Holy Spirit . . . Our Co-Pilot.

Contributed by Val Black on May 26, 2025

The Holy Spirit is more than a Comforter in times of grief, and more than a teacher of the Word. The Holy Spirit is freely given to us to guide us in life. Our Co-Pilot as we soar like eagles. (Isaiah 40:31)

The Holy Spirit Is Our Co-Pilot When I was young I had a secret desire to learn to fly an airplane. I used to build those model airplanes, the WWI, two-winged planes with the open cockpits. Back then we used balsa wood and paper. (The fun went out of it when someone thought of making them in ...read more

Do you ever feel lonely, depressed, abandoned? Jesus has three special words of encouragement for you - words that will give you comfort and purpose, especially in times when you don’t feel like going on.

We can’t even begin to imagine what waking up on that Sunday morning after the crucifixion was like for Mary Magdalene and Mary, Jesus’ mother. All of the turmoil of the trials, the terror of the cross, then the terrible waiting, while it all sunk in over the Sabbath. We have a name for it now – ...read more

    based on 356 ratings

God will console those who mourn in Zion. There is enough of God to comfort all who mourn around the world. But his word specifically states those in Zion or those in God’s house are going to get God’s attention.

The Bible speaks of the Holy Ghost as being the comforter. Aren’t you glad for the spirit of the Lord? He is the comforter. In our scripture text it says that God would appoint, or as the NKJV says, God would console those who mourn in Zion. There is enough of God to comfort all who mourn ...read more

We will look at the marvellous "I AMs" of John’s Gospel, which mean “I, I am.” It stamped the authority of Jesus as the Elohim of the Old Testament. It's used in John 6 where the disciples battled the storm and Jesus drew near with the assurance and authority of “I, I AM”.

A VERY SPECIAL “I AM” OF JOHN’S GOSPEL – “EGO EIMI” – “I, I AM” – SO MUCH COMFORT IN IT – PART 1 SHORT INTRODUCTION In John’s Gospel there are found very crucial sayings of the Lord Jesus all containing “I AM”. When does despair become relief? When does the dangerous trough of despondency become the glorious hill of deliverance? The answer is in verse 19 of John 6. Jesus drew near to the boat and when Jesus walked on the water and came closer to the boat, all the perspective changed.

Jesus calls the Holy Spirit (depending on your translation) a “Helper”, “Comforter”, or “Counselor” (vs 16). This title literally means one who comes alongside to assist us, working in and through us, encouraging us along life’s way.

“I Believe” -Sermon Series on the Apostles Creed “Spirit-Control” John 14:16-27 Pastor Bob Leroe, Cliftondale Congregational Church, Saugus, Massachusetts One phrase we hear a lot in church is a way of either introducing worship or ending a prayer: “In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, ...read more

  • Be Thou Perfect!!

Contributed by Kayode Omotoso on Jul 4, 2014
    based on 1 rating

Most of us as Christians are so comfortable counting on our long year of salvation and probably service in the house of God yet the Almighty God whom we claim to be serving is so disappointed in our relationship with Him. Grow your relationship with Him.

There is a reason for you to be perfect, and that is because I am the Almighty, the God who is perfect in all things. However, you cannot become perfect by any other means except by growing your relationship with Me. Those were the words of God to Abraham in Genesis 17:1, fifteen years after he ...read more

  • Urgency

Contributed by David Spiegel on Mar 6, 2015
    based on 4 ratings

The signs of the times are evident. Where is the sense of Urgency that the church should have? Jesus said He is not willing that any should perish, so why are we so comfortable with the idea? Shouldn't we be about the family business of making disciples?

Make no mistake, we have an “urgency emergency”! I wish I could stand here this morning and say, “Everything is alright”. You can just coast through this life and enjoy it as you live to a ripe old age and be gently laid to rest among family and friends as angels carry you ...read more

He had a strong faith-a faith that did not waiver in the face of his terminal illness and death. He knew that in spite of his suffering Jesus would show him and his family compassion. He knew that Jesus is the Great Comforter.

On a dark and stormy night, an American, a Canadian and a Scotsman were in a bad car accident. All three were rushed to the hospital, though all three had died before they arrived. Just as they were about to put the toe tag on the American, he awoke and opened his eyes. Astonished, the doctors and ...read more

  • Sheep Among Wolves

Contributed by David Mcnally on Jun 26, 2011
     | 12,073 views

Jesus did not call us to an easy, comfortable life, but one of challenge and opposition, and possibly even suffering and death. He gives us forgiveness of sin and eternal life, but requires us to take up our cross as we follow him.

Jesus would have fallen foul of the Health and Safety laws if he had been around today, and I imagine it would have been hard for him to advertise on TV. Just imagine someone saying today: ‘Come and follow me, and the chances are you will be spat upon, thumped, sworn at, and maybe ...read more

Often our faith becomes stale. We can get so accustomed to things as they are and we become comfortable with our faith and in doing se we get stuck. This message challenges us to look at faith issues through fresh eyes.

“The Danger of the Familiar” Matthew 21:1-11 In the Episcopal church and also in the Catholic church they use phrases in the service that become very familiar to the congregation because they use these phrases over and over. In addition they also chant or sing the words. As a young ...read more
