“Precious” that an unusual word to use at a memorial service. And in fact, I don’t think I ever heard it used at a memorial service. Now in the hospital, in the birthing unit, “precious” is a probably a common word choice. But not at a memorial service!

INTRODUCTION DESCRIBE HOW GOD VIEW'S DEATH AND HOW WE VIEW DEATH. At a memorial service, you may hear people talking among themselves or to the family members whose loved one has passed, and you might hear them saying such things as it was quick and unexpected, or he lingered a long time in ...read more

Contributed by I. Grant Spong on May 30, 2025
     | 310 views

Are we spiritually and morally blind to Jesus and what He taught? Let's look at John 9.

Is there a willing blindness of heart, a spiritual and moral blindness? Do we see but refuse to acknowledge the truth? Let’s look at John 9. Why was a man born blind? Does God often have a purpose beyond our circumstances? Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His ...read more

Mark 1:4-13 Jesus and John, the Baptist in Mark John: According to Flavius Josephus, the Jewish Historian, ‘John the Baptist was a good man who commanded the Jews to exercise virtue, both as to righteousness towards one another, and piety toward God.’ John the Baptist was born under Herod the ...read more

  • John, The Love Gospel

Contributed by Maurice Mccarthy on Aug 2, 2023
     | 1,955 views

Amazing fact, the gospel of John is the only gospel that says God loves us. Today I want to give an overview of the gospels with special emphasis on the gospel of John, and show why it is rightly called the “Love gospel.”

Note: Further down in the message I have a chart on the use of the word love in the gospels, I cannot get it to format correctly on sermoncentral. If you want a Word doc contact me. Blessings! Maurice John, the Gospel of Love PPT 1 Series title Behold To behold means to give something our ...read more

  • John 3:16 Series

Contributed by Scott Maze on Apr 23, 2024
     | 3,357 views

When John wrote these words, Jews would have thought God would love only the righteous. But the Bible doesn’t say God loves good-looking people. The Bible doesn’t say God loves rich and successful people.

Think with me about some of the most famous sayings in history. Martin Luther King Jr said famously, “I have a dream…” John Fitzgerald Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” Perhaps there is no more famous sentence anywhere than John ...read more

Who is the way, the truth and the life? Let's look at John 14.

Who is the way? Can we know the Father? What shows that we love Jesus? What does the Holy Spirit teach? Let’s look at John 14. What has Jesus gone to prepare for us? Who is the way, the truth, and the life? Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s ...read more

For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. Mark 6:20.

THE MURDER OF JOHN THE BAPTIST. Matthew 14:1-12. This passage begins with Jesus, and ends with Jesus. It was inevitable that Herod Antipas should have “heard of the fame of Jesus” (Matthew 14:1). When Mary visited Elizabeth and greeted her, Elizabeth was six months pregnant. Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then she returned home (v. 56). Perhaps she returned to Nazareth in Galilee before Elizabeth gave birth to her baby.

    I. Birth and naming of John (vv. 57~65) Finally, when Elizabeth’s days to give birth were fulfilled, she gave birth to a son (v. 57). At that time, many neighbors and relatives heard it and rejoiced together (v. 58). Jews circumcise their sons eight days after birth, and at that time, relatives ...read more

"Blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in Me" (Matthew 11:6).

JESUS AND JOHN THE BAPTIST. Matthew 11:2-10. MATTHEW 11:2-3. We do not know for sure why John the Baptist sent two of his disciples to speak with Jesus. Perhaps prison had knocked the wind out of his sails, and he wanted some reassurance that it had not all been in vain. Or perhaps it was for ...read more
