All members of society suffer from the evils all around us. Why does God allow suffering and persecution to the righteous? Consequences for evil doings must be endured. Spiritual Blindness and Spiritual Adultery against God are some of the causes.

Every nation has need of discipline. God will punish an evil nation for disobedience by unrighteous leadership. Look at the nation of Judah and God's punishment of them. Yet, God will protect and comfort the righteous in captivity.

Knowledge of God and his kingdom offers comfort to the righteous in all times of pain, sorrow, and suppression by evil beings. Daniel, in captivity, was comforted regularly by knowledge given to 'a man highly esteemed'; Daniel 9:23. Through knowledge, the righteous are comforted today.
