The phrase "What do I get out of it" seems to embody the reason for church attendance for many people who claim Christianity as their faith today. Is the body of Christ, the church, supposed to be a vehicle to make me happy for my own sake?

If we recognise Jesus's authority as divine, then we are forced to listen to Him and allow him to impact our lives. If Jesus is the Word of God and the Scriptures are also the Word of God, then we need allow Scripture to impact our lives too.
