In John 10 Jesus reaffirms that He is fulfilling Ezekiel 34. Psalm 23 is a Psalm that touches a deep place within our souls. Why would Jesus compare Himself to a “shepherd” if in His own culture the role of the “shepherd” was a profession that was rejected?

Verse nine tells us to stop pretending there is no elephant in the room and simply admit it, confessing our sins to the Lord. To admit our sins to Him is just being honest. Confession helps us to come face to face with our sins.

Of the numerous images of Jesus painted by John in his Gospel, probably the most descriptive is that of the Good Shepherd (John 10). Like a shepherd, Jesus is concerned with the welfare and care of His flock, showing His never changing love and compassion.
