Contributed by Ross Cochrane on Dec 18, 2009

The name Methuselah means "When he dies, judgment". It’s a prophetic name. Methusaleh was the oldest man who ever lived indicating that God held off judgment till the last minute. This speaks to me of God’s grace.

Genesis 6 - Part 5 - If you’re looking for a good name for your newborn, what about a name like "When he dies, judgment!"? Did you notice in Genesis 6:3 that it says "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty ...read more

When we are standing before the throne on Judgment Day, perhaps one of the scariest words we will ever hear is, "NEXT!"

Every Sunday evening, after I get home from church, I start trying to think about what to preach about the next Sunday. I go through many possibilities, and then it happens – every week the same thing. Come Monday afternoon I have one thought in my mind that just won’t go away, and after ...read more

Although Jesus said the words, "Do not judge..." (Matthew 7:1), we have to read on to see what Jesus is really teaching about judging and not judging others.

    A. According to Lifeway Christian Resources, the most misused VERSE found in the Bible is: “DO NOT JUDGE.” 1. The Bible talks a lot about JUDGING, but the verse they had in mind was what Jesus taught at the close of His Sermon on the Mount: “Do not judge, or you too will be ...read more

Jeremiah was to have God by his side through all of his difficulties. There are special rewards for God’s faithful people. However, it is possible that they might not be received during this life.

Jeremiah had been God’s spokesman to Judah for forty years, during the last five kings. He continually urged the people to repent and to act, but nobody would listen to him or do anything. He was not a successful man by the world’s standards, like those who have fortune and fame. He did not gain ...read more
