  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I’ve found reading through other peoples sermons to be one of the many means by which the Holy Spirit inspires and directs and clarifies my own preaching preparation. My prayer would be that the Lord would use the text of these sermons to speak clearly to you as well as your congregation, and that these thoughts would be used by God to help you prepare a sermon that will be entirely yours by His inspiration, and further His Kingdom in your sphere of influence. For those reading these and not in the process of preparing a sermon, may the Lord bless His Word and make it living and active and sharper than a sword in your life.
  • Family: Wife: Barbara Daughters: Lisa and Laura, 2 grandsons
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: God cares as much about the preparation of the preacher as He cares about the preparation of the preaching - Jim Garrett
  • Books that have had an impact: anything by Charles Colson, anything by Jerry Bridges, anything by Joni Eareckson Tada, The Doulos Principle and New Testament Church Leadership by Jim Garrett, anything by Jared Wilson, anything by Kevin DeYoung Total Truth by Nancy Pearcey, The God Who is There by Francis Schaeffer,
  • Hobbies: love of many sports, especially basketball and football.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus and His righteousness
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: On Easter Sunday, I accidentally printed my notes from the Good Friday sermon I had just preached and brought those into the pulpit. I didn't notice until I stepped into the pulpit and opened the folder with my notes. I quickly decided I might be able to access my notes on my phone, which I had with me. I was surprisingly able to read my notes despite the size of the phone, and the congregation had a good laugh at my expense when I told them what I had done at the beginning of my message
  • What I want on my tombstone: Look! He’s moving!
