By the resurrection Jesus overcame sin and death; but the cross is where He made atonement for sin. It was the cross in which Paul boasted, and the cross was central to his missions and preaching; therefore, it should be important to us.

I read an article recently about church planting and the author talked about all of the humanitarian things that result from doing so. It got me to thinking: is church planting what Jesus really wants if it’s going to following the humanitarian model?

Was Paul saying that the message of the cross was foolish? Paul was a Jew brought up in a Roman town and was greatly influenced by Greek culture. When he preached Christ, Paul found that each of these cultures had its own particular challenges when the gospel was concerned.
