[365]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – ON THE EARTH BUT DEFINITELY HEAVEN BOUND
For the Christian, he oscillates between heaven and earth in his thoughts, but I believe the older we get then thoughts of heaven and meeting the Lord get stronger and stronger.
We know what Paul wrote – {{Philippians 1:23-24 “I am HARD-PRESSED FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better, yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake,”}}. Some of us have that battle.
This poem looks at our life on earth while anticipating heaven. {{2 Corinthians 5:6-8 “Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord - for we walk by faith, not by sight - we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather TO BE ABSENT FROM THE BODY AND TO BE AT HOME WITH THE LORD.”}}
Stanza 1 is the Christian in the world and the balance.
Stanza 2 is about our faith being anchored to Christ.
Stanza 3 is “here we live with allegiance to the Lord.”
Stanza 4 is bound for heaven to see the glory of the Lord.
Stanza 5 are instructions for living for the Lord.
Come, Lord Jesus, come and take us home to glory. Our citizenship might be tied to our nationalities but all believers have their citizenship in heaven. Philippians 3:20-21.
=====================================================
ON THE EARTH BUT DEFINITELY HEAVEN BOUND
Now in the world but not of it.
Stand in the world but do not sit.
Do not let the world, yourself fit.
Protect your faith and do not quit.
=================
Your faith in God will keep you whole,
Steady your feet and keep your soul.
Let the world’s waves crash and roll,
While you anchor to Christ, your soul.
=================
Citizens, we are on earth’s sphere,
But our destiny is not here.
Our allegiance to Christ is clear.
His dear presence is always near.
=================
Our path to God is heaven bound:
Soon to depart from this earth’s ground,
In sinless glory to be found,
To see the Lord with honour crowned.
=================
While on earth we live aright;
Walk this place with heavenly sight.
Against evil, engage the fight,
And cling to Christ with all our might.
