[348]. A Message From A Poem - Without Christ The Life Is Wasted
Contributed by Ron Ferguson on May 12, 2026 (message contributor)
[348]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM - WITHOUT CHRIST THE LIFE IS WASTED
This poem covers the two states of mankind. One of those is lost and one is found. One is salvation and one is destruction.
This is an examination of life and the two destinies. Both are considered. We live in a sinful world that declines every week. It is astounding just to think back one year and now see all the turmoil in the world. It will continue the slide. One couplet from the poem is this:-
“A post-Christian world is what we endure,
That embraces sin, and all that’s impure.”
In this world most people ignore, even oppose, any reference to God, or a personal challenge to turn to Christ. The hearts and lives are darker than ever. The sad fact is that when reality hits, it is too late because the person is already in hell. Do we believe this? We need to, because Jesus preached it, and Jesus is God Almighty.
Here the question is asked in another couplet “-
“The two ways only are the right and wrong.
Which of those ways are you trav’lling along?”
The teaching about the two ways is all through scripture. Right and wrong; life and death; righteousness and wickedness. {{Psalm 1:5-6 “Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”}}
Also from the poem – “To life one leads; to death the other winds.” Jesus explained this concept once to the crowds – {{Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction and many are those who enter by it, for the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life and few are those who find it.”}}
This is what we want for everyone –
“A fruitful life, and one that is fulfilled,
Is centred in Christ, where all fears are stilled.”
By faith we are saved and that comes from God, not ourselves. The poem will speak for itself.
==========================================================
WITHOUT CHRIST THE LIFE IS WASTED
A waste of a life with no happy end!
As along life’s road you wantonly spend.
=====================
At the end of your life, what can you show?
Goodness or evil – which one did you grow?
Without the Saviour to guide you through death,
You pass from this earth to a life bereft;
To a life in hell with lasting regret.
God’s salvation was once for you to get,
But priority and pride sent you away,
To deaden your soul, and from God, astray.
=====================
There once was a man who ended in hell,
Who to riches and sin, his soul did sell.
That one pined for relief; for comfort too,
But there would be none in his dismal view.
Ultimately, what is it worth for one
To lose his own soul; to be all undone?
No prospect in store for eternal life;
Darkness and hell with everlasting strife.
=====================
Most people today will not give a thought
To God, or their destiny; they are caught.
In sin they are snared, in delusion’s trap,
And rest contentedly in Satan’s lap.
Their senses are dull; their slumber is dead.
They are not concerned with what is ahead.
The devil has darkened their minds to light;
Has blinded their eyes to revealing sight.
=====================
Their mobile phones and social media
Have become their encyclopaedia.
All references to God and to the Lord
Are expunged by decree, or are outlawed.
A post-Christian world is what we endure,
That embraces sin, and all that’s impure.
=====================
This world moves to its ordained appointment –
God will intervene in awful judgement.
Flee that day, you who are still in your sin.
Approach heaven’s door and enter within.
=====================
A fruitful life, and one that is fulfilled,
Is centred in Christ, where all fears are stilled.
Life has purpose and reason, filled with hope.
God gives grace in circumstances to cope.
Joy and peace will accompany you here,
For God stands with you and He will draw near.
=====================
The love of God transcends all men’s concepts.
It rises above his self-stated precepts.
The wisdom of man is God’s foolishness.
The wisdom of God - without selfishness.
So then to us, the very best He gave –
His Christ, who came as Sacrifice to save.
=====================
The two ways only are the right and wrong.
Which of those ways are you trav’lling along?
To life one leads; to death the other winds.
Blessed is the person who life in Christ finds.
Repent from sin and His salvation claim.
Then on your account there will be no blame.
=====================
Those in Christ will enjoy a happy end!
Eternity with their Lord, they will spend.
