[312]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM - THOUGHTS BASED ON PSALM 27 - VERSION 1
Psalm 27 has 14 verses and contains some famous verses such as the following –
{{Psalm 27:1 “The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defence of my life. Whom shall I dread?”}}
{{Psalm 27:4 “One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to meditate in His temple.”}}
{{Psalm 27:9 “Do not hide Your face from me. Do not turn Your servant away in anger. You have been my help. Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation!”}}
David had a varied life and lived in very troubling times. He had many enemies, namely Saul and his own son Absalom. He was frequently on the run, and one time actually spent time with the Philistines (the old Gazans/Palestinians). His life was regularly in danger.
The godly man will always have enemies and David seemed to have more than his share but really, that is not surprising, for David was in the royal line of Jesus, an ancestor of both Joseph and Mary. Satan has done every possible thing to exterminate the royal seed and the Jewish nation. Right now, Iran is the modern Haman to extinguish the nation.
Read the Old Testament prophets for they wrote very clearly on the restoration of Israel and about God’s protection over them.
While David was fleeing from enemies and living sometimes in horrible situations such as in dens and caves, he came to rely on the Lord in a magnificent way. He learned of the Lord and especially knew the Lord’s faithfulness. His faith was firm and established as in this verse – {{Psalm 27:5 “In the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle. In the secret place of His tent He will hide me. He will lift me up on a rock.”}}. His faith reached mountains – {{Psalm 27:3 “Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear. Though war arise against me, in spite of this I shall be confident.”}}
What I have done in this poem is to take the Psalm and many aspects of it and place the sentiments in poetic form. I suggest you might want to red the Psalm before reading the poem. God bless you.

THOUGHTS BASED ON PSALM 27 - VERSION 1
The Lord is my light and my salvation.
Why walk in fear or trepidation?
My life knows the Lord, as its sure defence.
Then whom shall I dread, when foes give offence?
======================
To pluck me away as some old flower,
Evil men came, my flesh to devour.
They stumbled and fell. God overthrew them.
My adversaries, the Lord will condemn.
======================
Though evil hosts, against me are arrayed:
Their camps erected and fully displayed,
Though war may arise, my heart will not fear.
For with confidence, I know Thou art near.
======================
And this of the Lord, I truly desire;
One thing I seek. In that I’ll not tire;
The days of my life in His house to dwell;
Behold His beauty, delightful to tell.
======================
In days of trouble, He will hide me.
God’s secret place my concealment will be
Within the recesses of His presence.
My feet placed on the rock of His defence.
======================
For God has raised my head above my foes.
Granted His deliverance. Peace bestows.
So shouts of joy I offer in His Tent,
And praises to the Lord are evident.
======================
Be gracious, Lord, and answer when I cry.
Turn not away Your servant, but draw nigh.
Forsake me not, or reject in anger;
Abandon me not, nor leave to languor.
======================
For witnesses, false, have risen ‘gainst me.
Deliver me not to adversaries,
But teach me Thy way. On level paths lead.
Discretion, direction; for these I need.
======================
But faint my spirit, it would have despaired.
See goodness of God in the land prepared.
Be strong in the Lord, show courage of heart.
Yes, wait on the Lord and not draw apart.
