[261]. A Message From A Poem – The Devil Snake

[261]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – THE DEVIL SNAKE
Most people hate snakes. They run from them and scream out. Snakes are evil creatures but their cunning is well know.
I have a love hate relationship with snakes. I think they are beautifully created which does not surprise me because Lucifer was a beautiful creation, so the creature representing him is also beautiful.
The snake or serpent occurs quite a bit in scripture. The first introduction is in Genesis 3 with this forthright statement – {{Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was MORE CRAFTY than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made, and he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”}}
Whether the snake allowed itself to be the vehicle of Satan or if it was taken over by Satan we need not be concerned about. The curse that came on the snake was also aimed at Satan – {{Genesis 3:14-15 The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field. On your belly shall you go and dust shall you eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. HE SHALL BRUISE YOU ON THE HEAD and you shall bruise him on the heel.”}}
Arising from those two verses are –
(a). The snake is cursed.
(b). the snake is reduced to slithering in dust and dirt even though some live in trees.
(c). The enmity between the woman and the serpent will result in the serpent’s head being bruised and the “Man” shall be bruised on the heel as a result. This is a prophetic reference to Christ. He shall inflict eternal judgement and defeat against Satan, but the devil through his agents will send Christ to crucifixion. I think contained in that is a picture of a man stomping his heel on to the snake’s head to kill it.
It is believed the snake went upright before the fall and is the reason for these two lines in the poem -
Indeed, what a revealing story
To recognise your former glory.
This is a reference to Satan being cast from heaven – {{Revelation 12:9 “The great dragon was thrown down, THE SERPENT OF OLD WHO IS CALLED THE DEVIL AND SATAN, who deceives the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”}}
The snake has become the picture of deception, evil and death. {{2 Corinthians 11:3 “but I am afraid, lest AS THE SERPENT DECEIVED EVE BY HIS CRAFTINESS, your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.”}} Satan is deceptive and has the world locked up in his deception (delusion).
The poem deals with serpents, Satan, and Satan’s judgement.
Australia has 7 out of top 10 of the world’s deadliest snakes. The western brown I had dealings with. It is the next most deadly snake after the taipan. Two of them, 7 feet long, were in my yard in outback Australia. One I captured but the other entered through a small hole and crawled under the concrete slab the house is on.
I set rat traps all around the hole and I would know if the snake came out. Well after some days it did and got caused in the rat traps. One struck it in the neck killing it. When the Millennium comes, no snake will be poisonous but harmless.
{{Isaiah 11:8-9 “The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den. They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.”}}

THE DEVIL SNAKE
The snake, it is a noble creature,
With ev’ry movement, ev’ry feature,
Alive and gleaming, lying patiently
On the warming, moistured sand.
=================
Instant alert, it senses around,
Detecting all movement on the ground;
Eyes like pills and sharply penetrating;
Staring through the humid air.
=================
They say, “Simply slithering, slimy
You are, and your habits are grimy.”
Your smooth-groomed body of interlocked scales
Is glossy and delicate.
=================
Indeed, what a revealing story
To recognise your former glory.
The smooth, rhythmic momentum of beauty,
Suggests what you may have been.
=================
But we know what you were, wicked snake.
To all forms of decency, a fake.
For your origins reach right to the past,
In Eden’s garden, you were.
=================
Deceptive, dishonest go-between
You and Satan, unclean and obscene,
But not to Eve did you appear that way;
Kind and trustworthy you seemed.
=================
Glorious creature there, in her eyes;
You gained her trust with your wicked guise.
You allowed yourself to be Satan’s voice,
And guilty of corruption.
=================
For that, the curse of God fell on you,
‘Cause you were part of a wicked coup.
From your upright stance, on your belly, GO!
Evil gains its recompense.
=================
Cunning snake, inglorious in defeat,
But the great Serpent still claims his seat.
He controls iniquity in the world,
Until God’s set time arrives.
=================
That dragon serpent-snake, will receive
From God, absolutely no reprieve,
But into the lake of fire, will be cast
In eternal punishment.
