[241]. A Message From A Poem – Christmas Glory

[241]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – CHRISTMAS GLORY
This little poem was written for a short Christmas Meditation that is on SermonCentral. As you can see it is an acrostic.
I have always been thrilled with this verse from Luke – {{Luke 2:9 “An angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them and THE GLORY OF THE LORD shone around them, and they were terribly frightened”}}
These humble, godly shepherds were in the presence of the glory of the LORD, a very rare event. What is it like to see God’s glory? Moses experienced it on Sinai. Three disciples experienced it – {{Matthew 17:1-3 “Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and brought them up to a high mountain by themselves, and He was transfigured before them and HIS FACE SHONE LIKE THE SUN, AND HIS GARMENTS BECAME AS WHITE AS LIGHT, and behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with Him.”}}
We may think we are not worthy to be in the presence of God’s glory and that is because we are sinful creatures. It was the last thing Paul expected when the glory of the Lord encountered him. {{Acts 9:3 “It came about that as he journeyed he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him”}}
We are not worthy but Christ is. One day we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is. {{Philippians 3:21 “who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with THE BODY OF HIS GLORY, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”}}
The AV translation of that we may know better – “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto HIS GLORIOUS BODY, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”
Well the shepherds were granted a glimpse of glory, for the Glorious One had come to the manger. Thank God for all His provisions.

CHRISTMAS GLORY
[C]. Christ was born in Bethlehem one starry summer night;
[H]. Huddled in a manger’s space with animals in sight.
[R]. Rejects from a comfort inn, they were in God’s own care,
[I]. In safety kept by angels where evil would not dare.
[S]. Shepherds were the heralds of a message most supreme -
[T]. To God, glory in the highest; Christ is heaven’s theme.
[M]. Mary, the appointed one, set for the Saviour’s birth,
[A]. And blessed among women who have ever lived on earth.
[S]. Sent by angels, shepherds came to greet the Christ child’s peace.
========================================
[G]. Glory to God in the highest, where joy will increase.
[L]. Love of God that sent the Saviour, shone with heaven’s light;
[O]. Ordained by God in human flesh, Jesus gives us sight.
[R]. Rejoice in this eternal fact – “Good news of great joy.”
[Y]. Your eternal salvation – none can ever destroy.
