[196]. A Message From A Poem – Not Worthy To Be Compared
Contributed by Ron Ferguson on Sep 12, 2025 (message contributor)
[196]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – NOT WORTHY TO BE COMPARED
This poem has its basis in a few scriptures. This is one of them – {{Romans 8:18 “for I consider that the sufferings of this present time ARE NOT WORTHY TO BE COMPARED with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”}}
Those who are like me get upset about the state of the world, and about our very wicked Governments where I live. We don’t like what we see. Really though, we should not get upset because these things and problems are not worthy to be compared with lies ahead with our Lord and Saviour.
The next basis is this one (stanza 6) – {{Philippians 3:8 “More than that, I COUNT ALL THINGS TO BE LOSS in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, AND COUNT THEM BUT RUBBISH in order that I may gain Christ”}}
The NASB uses the word “rubbish” in its comparison with what is Christ’s. I use the word “manure” for the word “dung” which is the KJV’s word.
That is what the poem is about. It is a comparison. All the heartaches of this world; all the achievements; all the friendships; all your personal gains – these are not worthy to be compared with the glory and wonder ahead.
The third basis, not stated in the poem, but implicitly there, is this one – {{Philippians 3:12 “not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, BUT I PRESS ON in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.”}} Join that scripture with this strong personal desire – {{Philippians 3:14-15 “I PRESS ON TOWARD THE GOAL FOR THE PRIZE OF THE UPWARD CALL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude, and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you.”}}
I hope you enjoy this poem, but at the same time, see its meaning.

NOT WORTHY TO BE COMPARED
And then the golfer said,
“I hit my ball like lead,
Over the fence and into the Bay,
And now I think that’s where it will stay.”
======================
That day the title lost –
Money away he tossed!
Home he went, a man disappointed
And with regrets, a man anointed.
======================
Disappointment is real,
And its outcomes we feel.
In the long run golf does not matter;
Along with trials, our peace might shatter.
======================
Here today, gone the next,
But we are not perplexed,
For we know the Lord is in control.
He holds the keys while the earth days roll.
======================
Your life is what will count;
So no earthly amount
Can ever match eternal values
In heaven, where your reward accrues.
======================
Not worthy to compare,
With future glory, fair,
Are the sufferings that we endure.
Count them less than a pile of manure.
======================
It won’t be long before
Heaven opens its door,
And for His children, Jesus descends,
To call them home, so the Church ascends.
======================
With Jesus our blessed King,
Forever praise will ring.
Adoration to our precious Lord;
In purity, full worship unflawed.
======================
Transient is this life;
Filled with sorrow and strife.
Promised shadows of future glory -
Look unto Jesus; tell His story.
======================
Let your mind be at peace,
For soon comes your release.
In the Saviour’s presence, we’ll rejoice.
All heavenly things, make them your choice.
