[191]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM – MY SAVIOUR CALLED ME UNTO HIM
This is a generic poem, that it, it is a testimony of one coming to salvation, but it is not exactly mine for I was saved when 10 or 11.
If you like, it is a synthesis of the elements contained in salvation. Certain aspects must be common in everyone’s salvation experience. These are – conviction of sin, repentance and turning away from sin, turning to Jesus to receive Him as personal Saviour.
People are not free to pick and choose when they will be saved. It does not work like that. {{John 12:32 “and I, if I be lifted up from the earth, WILL DRAW ALL MEN to Myself.”}} Jesus is not willing that any perish but you don’t act independently from the Spirit of God who calls you. Jesus draws; Jesus calls.
{{Psalm 95:7-8 “for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today, IF YOU WOULD HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness.”}}
When God calls there is always a response. You may choose to reject, the position very sadly, that most people do; or you respond humbly and become a born again Christian. {{2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man is in Christ, HE IS A NEW CREATURE. The old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”}}. The best word there is “A NEW CREATION” rather than “creature”
?t?s?? (ktisis) is the creation into new life. And why would God create this new life in a sinner? This is why - {{Ephesians 2:10 “We are His workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR GOOD WORKS which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”}}

MY SAVIOUR CALLED ME UNTO HIM
My Saviour called me unto Him.
My Saviour called me to His side,
As though I was the only one
That his love reached; for whom He died.
For each of us is dear to Him -
Created ones who’ve gone astray.
With God’s redeeming love He came
To rescue us without delay.

In tenderness He calls to us.
His voice in earnestness is heard.
So often we refuse to hear;
Won’t let our souls by Him be stirred.
Our sins have ears they tightly shut
For that’s the way that evil works -
It won’t acknowledge God’s true voice
But in the darkened heart it lurks.

But through the Spirit’s pleading voice
God’s word began to take its hold.
My life, exposed for what it was,
Responded to the message told.
By faith His word worked miracles
Converting this dead life of mine -
A child of God I have become,
And at God’s table asked to dine.
====================
Then never more will I despise
The love of God I clearly own,
For Christ did suffer for my sins;
In agony, He did atone.
Now His alone I ever am,
Called closely to His precious side,
For I’m the one who caused His death,
And for my life the Saviour died.
====================
